Alice in Wonderland
Tim Burton and Johnny Depp are supposedly re-teaming for the gazillionth time to make an Alice in Wonderland movie with Depp as the Mad Hatter.

Beam Me Up Scotty
The Falcon 1 exploded, therefor not finishing its mission of spreading actor James Doohan’s ashes into outerspace.

SYTYCD Final
I was so impressed with the finale of So You Think You Can Dance. The judges explained there favorite dances from over the season and the finalists got to perform them again. It was so uplifting to watch these gifted, young dancers being supported instead of overlooked while A-list celebs performed instead.

Rehab
Its time for all of us internet addicts to get some help. There is now an in-patient addiction recovery facility for that has included internet addicts to its list of patients.

80’s Musical
Is this the year the best musical ever will be on off-Broadway? Maybe!! “Rock of Ages” will open this fall and feature tunes from some of the best of the 80’s!

My Horrible interview

July 31st, 2008 · 5 Comments

Its only my third week at EPIC FU and I’ve already gotten the chance to interview some big time, talented television writers. Maurissa Tancharoen, Jed Whedon and Zack Whedon teamed up with brother Joss Whedon to dip their toes in the flowing river of the internets. The product? The popular web mini-series Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. Here’s the interview!

Comic Con Wrap-Up

July 28th, 2008 · 7 Comments

I’m back home and going over the three days I spent at The Con. I’m still a bit overwhelmed and not sure how to write it out. So, here it is in bullet form!

  • The new Knight Rider series looks like it has cheesy writing and acting but awesome car stunts and action scenes. In the preview they showed during the panel, KITT…wait for it…TRANSFORMED! Stop rolling your eyes, it was awesome.
  • The Tr2n trailer looked pretty cool visually but it stars Jeff Bridges. Unfortunately for me, that is not someone I enjoy watching. I put up with him in Iron Man and still loved the movie so maybe there is hope.
  • SUPER EXCITED ABOUT WOLVERINE! Hugh Jackman vs. Liev Schreiber…I need not say more.
  • I enjoyed watching the Totally Rad Show guys tape a live version of their show. I was shocked at how few ladies there were in the audience, though. There were probably 3 other girls there besides me (I’m not exaggerating) and those girls looked like they had been dragged by their boyfriends/husbands.  Ladies, this is a good show, tune in.
  • The Dr. Horrible panel was the most entertaining panel that I attended. That entire cast is hilarious. They took Q&A the full hour and pretty much just performed for the audience. There was one moment when everyone turned to Felicia Day waiting for her to answer a question. She looked up and said, “sorry, I was twittering”. The audience took it a dirty way and made some oohing noise. She turned bright red and flustered and didn’t know how to continue. She finally said, “I’m keeping my hands on the table”. It was very cute and endearing.
  • I went to an EW.com panel with Kevin Smith, Judd Apatow, Zack Snyder & Frank Miller. Unfortunately, the moderator was unable to pose an adequate question and the panel of artistic genius’ stammered around mostly confused. Luckily, Kevin and Judd put their sense of humor into it and gave us some laughs. Here’s a bit of video I took of the funny duo…
  • I think the highlight of my trip was being able to sit down with Jed & Zack Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, the writers of Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. They were really cool and fun to interview. I was super excited to have that opportunity. It was for EPIC FU and will be in Thursday’s episode. :)

Overall, I was pushed around by crazed fans, rudely spoken to by “security”, financially assaulted by soda vendors, stood in absurdly long lines, walked approximately 3,259 miles throughout the convention center and molested a 13 year old boy as I fell on him while commuting on the trolley. But, pair that with all the cool people I met, including 4 twitter friends and Optimus Prime, I’m a pretty happy gal! My pix are up on Flickr.

Comic Con 08

July 25th, 2008 · 2 Comments

Today was my first day at my very first Comic Con. It is amazing here. I spent the first half of my day walking around the expo floor. Its larger than life! All the different comics…shows…studios…characters, its sensory overload. Well, at first its beautiful and exciting, then it becomes too much. And this was only the first day, I can only imagine that by Saturday I will want nothing to do with that area of the convention center.

I was really excited to find the G4 stage today. Attack of the Show is one of my very favorite shows. I TiVo it everyday. At 4 o’clock I went to the stage to watch the live taping of AOTS and it was crazy crowded. There just wasn’t enough room for everyone to stand near the stage. Security told us all to keep moving. So, I moved all around the stage trying to find a place to fit in. I asked where can I watch? Security said “keep moving”. Blah! I was super annoyed and angry that G4 was too cheap to have purchased enough space on the expo floor for an actual audience. BUT…fast forward to tonight.

I was able to get into the G4 party. This partay rocked! The awesome Nerdcore rappers YT Cracker, MC Frontalot and MC Lars put on an incredible show. Man, those guys are good. And when I first saw them just wandering around the party, I totally geeked out. I also became all giddy when Adam Sessler and Zack Selwyn walked by me. Its a bit embarrassing that I become a silly fangirl in those situations…but its what happens, I can’t help it.

MC Frontalot was nice enough to take a pic with me!

So, the day ended with me loving G4 again. I am definitely going to try and get to the taping early Friday so that hopefully I can stand in one place to watch. As for now, I need to get some sleep.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the way we comment on each others videos lately especially on YouTube. There seems to be so many people who are willing to say ugly, mean and very inappropriate things in a comment which makes me question what type of person that is and what journey they are on in this life. I think we all have that place deep down inside that allows us to be so angry we explode and I guess for some its not so deep down. I want to be okay with everyone’s different ways of expressing themselves but its hard not to be hurt if its a personal attack and its also hard, just in general, not to hurt for humanity.

Now, I love discussing and debating topics so I want to read the comments left on my videos and converse back with that person. I don’t need everyone to agree with me. Thats what makes life fun… seeing/hearing different views and opinions! Unfortunately, the majority of differing opinions on YouTube begin with “you suck” or “shut up”. What kind of conversation does that start?

Part of me just says step back and ignore it but I’m not good at that. I read them all and I respond in whatever positive way I can. Another part of me wonders, should I be removing comments? I feel everyone has a right to make their opinion heard but if they are just being rude, why should they have that right? Where’s the line?

How do you deal with negative comments? Do you read them? Do you remove them? Is it okay, in todays society, to be rude to people who put themselves out there? Are we just asking for it?

I may just be naive or too southern but I expect manners!

Musical Muppets

July 17th, 2008 · 6 Comments

The Muppets want to be YouTube stars! The Swedish Chef, Beaker and, one of my favorites, Gonzo have followed in Sam the Eagle’s footsteps and gotten YouTube accounts. And now they are sharing their musical talents with the internet.

Beaker performs Ode to Joy

Gonzo conducts The Blue Danube Waltz

Although, its hard to pick a favorite, this one is probably it. Beaker & The Swedish Chef perform Habanera from Carmen with a special appearance from Animal!

Ah, man…I can watch these over and over again. They make me laugh. :)

New FUn Gig!

July 13th, 2008 · 25 Comments

One of my favorite shows has hired me!!!! Starting tomorrow, I am a co-producer and entertainment correspondent of Epic-Fu. I am extremely excited about this new opportunity. I have watched Jetset/Epic-Fu grow and am truly a fan. I am beyond impressed with Steve & Zadi’s talents and fortitude. We all know how difficult it is to maintain a successful online series and they are doing it and doing it and doing it well. :)

I will mostly be behind the scenes but that is actually a place I enjoy. Segment producing is fun for me. I enjoy watching a project go full circle from concept to completion. PLUS…I get to put my detail-oriented, overly organized craziness to good use. Then, occasionally, I will be in front of the camera reviewing and reporting on fabulously fun entertainment goodies!

And here’s a little trivia for you…Rick Rey (producer for Epic-Fu) and I have worked together before. Infact, we were an adorable couple back in the 50’s. Hee hee, check it!

Will Ferrell
Judd Apatow is producing a new Sherlock Holmes movie starring Will Ferrell and Sacha Baron Cohen. Will Ferrell also has a new gaming website with his FunnyOrDie peeps, PwnOrDie. Cute domain name!!

Costly Text Messages
The four major wireless carriers have all up’d their fees to 20 cents per text message. I find this pretty darn lame.

Musical Video Games
I need some more insight on this one. Why would Led Zeppelin refuse to be a part of Guitar Hero or Rock Band? Is access to master tapes really that big of a deal? If anyone has an opinion on this I would love to hear it.

The Clip Show Live

July 1st, 2008 · 2 Comments

The Clip Show, one of my fav online vidcasts (see previous post), ended this season of episodes with a live show. They had asked me ahead of time to do The Heap for them and I was more than happy to oblige. The Heap is the short news segment at the beginning of each of their episodes which is a great fit with Nerdtainment.

So, I logged in to Ustream.tv about a half hour early and had some fun conversations in the chat room. Then when the show began my computer promptly froze. I tried to close the page…nothing. I tried to close Firefox…nothing. I tried to restart…nothing. I eventually had to manually shut down my poor baby and restart. By the time I got back to the Ustream page, Jim was ending the show. OMGah!!!! I was so bummed.

Everyone in the chat room seemed to have enjoyed themselves so I believe it was a hit. And luckily, Jim & Chuck posted the edited version. I love it! They made a great list of 13 podcasts you should be watching. The Clip Show truly is a fabulous resource to online entertainment. Here’s the episode…
